Beltway dwellers go on about "San Francisco" values. One never hears about "Santa Clara values" or "Solano County values." Election results show that the region doesn't share a consistent set of political beliefs. Our back of the envelope analysis: The poorer counties — Contra Costa, Napa, San Benito, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Solano — voted for Clinton, while the wealthier counties — Alameda, Marin, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Sonoma — voted for Obama. As for the Republicans? McCain took around 50 percent of the vote across the board. Ron Paul maintained a Macintosh-like market share with 4-5 percent in most counties, though he managed 8 percent in San Francisco and 9 percent in Santa Cruz County.
