Anyway, these beautifully shot photo stills from the music video give us another reason to watch it for the zillionth time, so click away and relive your nightmares/fantasies. Our faves: MORE »

Fergie Calls Kanye West “Gay Friendly” (But Not a Gay Fish)

033-kanye-west4

Not everyone is anti-Kanye West at the moment (and neither am I — he can interrupt all the doe-eyed, angelic teenage singers he wants, I’m still gonna jam out to “Robo Cop” on 808s & Heartbreak). Fergie had an interview with gay mag The Advocate and had wonderful, nice things to say about him that he’ll probably blog-scream about later. MORE »

Shakira Performs Song, Humps Air, Sports Dreadlocks on Letterman

Another day, another super hot but kind of creepy thing Shakira does with her body. Shaks (we’re on a nickname basis) performed “Give It Up To Me” on Letterman last night, showcasing her usual body contortions, but with one new addition: dreadlocks. Not totally digging the new look, but I bet even her hair is double-jointed, so who am I to judge.

Shakira, unfavorable hairstyle or no, always looks great, but I have to admit, I prefer her much more like this: MORE »

It’s Westlife’s Icy Rendition Of Daughtry’s ‘What About Now’

westlife
While Daughtry’s sophomore album Leave This Town didn’t quite spark a breakout single after its July release, Irish quartet Westlife are keeping the rock band’s back catalog somewhat alive overseas with their cover of “What About Now.” The boy band’s rendition peaked at #2 in the U.K. a couple weeks back, held from the top by Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole, with her debut solo tune, “Fight For This Love.” MORE »

Alicia Keys’ ‘Element Of Freedom’ Cover Seems A Tad ‘Queen Of The Night’

alicia-keys-element
Pop piano diva Alicia Keys is wisely steering clear of cluttered release dates November 17 (Kris Allen, Leona Lewis, John Mayer, Katy Perry) and November 24 (Adam Lambert, Rihanna, Shakira, Lady GaGa) for new album The Element Of Freedom. Instead, she’ll go toe-to-toe with Lil Wayne’s Rebirth on December 15.

And while the whole freedom angle with the cover art is pretty evident—Doves in flight! The sky’s the limit!— is Alicia also borrowing from Whitney Houston’s “Queen Of The Night”/Bodyguard schtick, albeit through a shimmery GaGa-ized lens? MORE »

Livebloggin’: ‘Kris Allen’

kris-allen-album-cover1 How many spins do you give a record before you decide whether it’s a winner or not? We’re the first to admit, there’ve been times when we fully appreciated a song or album only years after it hit (or missed) the charts. But there’s still something to be said for that first time a new piece of music reaches your eardrums, and that’s what this feature is all about. Every so often we’ll be registering our initial thoughts on a new album in real time (ooh, fancy!) and posting the verdict.

First up: Today we’re geared up to listen to Kris Allen’s debut album (posted on AOL’s listening party), and post our song-by-song thoughts while we listen from start to finish. Let’s get to it! MORE »

Happy 40th B-Day, Sesame Street!

In honor of Sesame Street’s 40th Anniversary today, here’s the smooth-jazziest rendition of the Sesame Street theme, as sung by Joshua Radin. Can’t you just imagine Oscar the Grouch wearing a beret sipping an espresso while listening to this play in a piano bar in the West Village? Or maybe that’s just us?
